Problem is that some real morons will not realise that this pic is a fake and try it themselves. Ah well, you can’t protect the stupid even if governments continually try to.

…and that, surely, is the point of Darwinism.

Ho ho ho!
Actually (speaking as an electronics engineer), you would be safe in the pool even if the electrics were wet – the danger is connecting the water and the ground outside the pool via your body. Consider birds alighting on live supply lines – they only fry/die if they touch two lines, or one line & an earthed pole insulator, at the same time.
Plus I’m sure the outdoor circuit would be RCD protected. I’m sorry that the truth about this is boring.-

You have a remarkable faith in the dielectric properties of thin Chinese PVC!
Although I reckon the upstream end of the line isn’t actually plugged into anything electricky.

Since you did not put a hyphen between the i and the e, I am assuming dielectric is a very clever pun.

Ed P is correct. To get a shock you need to be part of a circuit. Neither of the two idiots in the picture are. If they tried to unplug one of the extension leads it would be an entirely different matter.

Wouldn’t getting out the pool provide a chance to complete the circuit?

So why do we have earth wires on our taps?
