Integration and Multi-culturalism.
Much ruffling of Guardianista feathers today. The Prime-Minister’s speech in Munich stating that we must all try harder to integrate and adopt ‘British values’ may be responsible for the appearance of this article in the Guardian, one of our famed ‘National’ newspapers.
Do you agree with the article?
Disagree?
Do you feel that it has helped you integrate?
Is this a fine example of adopting British values?
Or are you struck dumb?

I saw Slavoj Žižek having an intense mental masturbation session on Al
Jazeera the other day. It was so memorable that I can’t remember any of
it…

And your problem with this article is?
The author is Slavoj Žižek is the
international director of the Birkbeck Institute for the Humanities.
Established by the university of London in 1823 it aims to:
* engage with
important public issues of our time through a series of open debates,
lectures, seminars and conferences
* foster and promote a climate of
interdisciplinary research and collaboration among academics and
researchers
* promote new ideas and forms of understanding in the
humanities
* provide short-term fellowships for a small number of scholars
from Britain and overseas, chosen in open competition
* invite prominent
writers, broadcasters and public figures to spend short periods at the
Institute
* engage the highly rated Birkbeck Humanities research
departments in cross-disciplinary work.
There is an English version
available. The article itself is not bad. Compare it with the response of the
US administration: Murbarak must change, no he must go, no the army must take
charge, no with must have stability and yes we want someone we can work with.
To send more illegal prisoners to be tortured?

Noticed on BBC World last night that following the report on the EDL march
in Luton a representative from an Islamic cultural organization was
interviewed, but no one from the EDL, or any organization’s representative
from the “other side” was asked asked for an opinion. Unbiased journalism?

Multiculturalism has only failed due to British Islamophobia. In a
tolerant, culturally pluralistic society where diversity is the norm,
Islamophobia should be treated therapeutically rather than condemned. People
who are Islamophobic should undergo systematised desensitisation by handling
muslims in a safe, controlled environment, starting with harmless, weedy
little specimens and building up to those massive great hairy buggers I’m
always finding in the bath.

Unless there’s something wrong with my monitor, that was printed

That article is in Arabic. Unless a spider has crawled over an inkwell and
then onto the page.

I can translate. It says “Baroness Ashton will perform the dance of the 7
veils in the Main Square unless all demonstrators disperse immediately”

It’s not so much multi-culturalism as the suppression of our own culture
accompanying it.

I enjoyed the Beeb’s coverage on the News last night: started with the
goings-on in Luton, and then cut to Cameron in Munich with the immortal
segue:
“meanwhile, thousands of miles away …”
and they say education improved under NuLab ! (well OK, no, they don’t)

God almighty. The Guardian can’t even get English right most of the time;
embarking upon alternatives is the triumph of hope over experience.

“There is great chaos under heaven – the situation is excellent.”
Got that right. It’s not William he mentions in the last sentence is it?

Typical Gruaniad, there’s a typo between (./.,_- and )”:;~ which alters the
