It illustrates perfectly the Christian viewpoint that every member of
mankind is totally incapable of any good deed without the intervention of God.
This lot were a perfect example of Hamish Imlach’s lyric,
“When asked
whit they think o’ religion
Baith say, ‘Ach religion’s aw right’
But
these guys are only religious
When the want an excuse for a fight!”

This piece of ecclesiastical imbecility and internecine squabbling in
Jerusalem goes back a long time, and it furnishes atheists – as if they needed
any – with yet more fuel to stoke their anti-Christian prejudices. It is an
eloquent and public refutation of the message of Christ. In this case, there’s
truth in the saying “The nearer to the church, the farther from God.”

They should consult a couple of Wicca covens for tips on how to handle a
broomstick properly.

Seems like a good opportunity to recycle an old joke:
I was walking across a bridge one day, and I saw a man standing on the
edge, about to jump. I ran over and said: “Stop. Don’t do it.”
“Why shouldn’t I?” he asked.
“Well, there’s so much to live for!”
“Like what?”
“Are you religious?”
He said: “Yes.”
I said: “Me too. Are you Christian or Buddhist?”
“Christian.”
“Me too. Are you Catholic or Protestant?”
“Protestant.”
“Me too. Are you Episcopalian or Baptist?”
“Baptist.”
“Wow. Me too. Are you Baptist Church of God or Baptist Church of the
Lord?”
“Baptist Church of God.”
“Me too. Are you original Baptist Church of God, or are you Reformed
Baptist Church of God?”
“Reformed Baptist Church of God.”
“Me too. Are you Reformed Baptist Church of God, Reformation of 1879, or
Reformed Baptist Church of God, Reformation of 1915?”
He said: “Reformed Baptist Church of God, Reformation of 1915.”
I said: “Die, heretic scum,” and pushed him off.

It happens yearly. It is quite a logical extention of the religious
teachings of peace, love and forgiveness.
I am always reassured to see religious people willing to fight over
important issues such as: “How their invisible best friend likes the hall to
be brushed and by who”
Religious believe is like the Highlander Films. “There can be only one” and
as long as there are multiple players they must fight to the death and consume
the power of the other through violence and confrontation.
Violence and confrontations are the organisational culture of all
religions, Love & Peace are just the advertising straplines.

How many “sweepers” do they need?
Looks like there’s some kind of arms limitation treaty, each side has far
more than they need, but equal numbers.
It definitely looks like a planned grudge match, but I’m surprised they
haven’t done some martial arts training with those brooms.

What was that famous line of the god-botherers, “Peace and goodwill to all
men…….”?
