Whine on, you crazy Diamond!
Recall when Lehman’s got done ?
The sun shone from your bum
Whine on, you crazy Diamond !
Now there’s a look in your eyes
Like you’ve seen your last rise
Whine on, you crazy Diamond !
You were caught in the crossfire
Of Labour and LIBOR
Blown by the sheer greed
Come on you target for ministers’ anger
Come on you scapegoat, you bastard, you bankster, and whine !
[Instrumental]
You reached for the billions too soon
You tried for the boom
Whine on, you crazy Diamond !
Threatened by your hair going white
And exposed as a shite
Whine on, you crazy Diamond !
Well you buttered your barnet with Grecian 2000
Rode on the sheer greed
Come on you seer of grandiose visions
Come on you puppet, you pirate, you prisoner, and whine !
[Saxophone … fade]

Whistles, stamps, claps, declares this much better than the original.

Very clever pastiche, but the original was a brilliant tribute to Syd Barrett.

A brilliant tribute to Syd Barrett might have been to sing it better in the first place instead of grudgingly mumbling through it like a teenager in a snit.

Yay! Absolutely superb.
Can you do the others? “Diamonds Are A Mayor’s Best Friend” or “Diamonds Are Whatever”?

Pint of mead ? Don’t mind if I do, thanks very much. Couple of those and I’m anybody’s
Pork scratchings … mmmmhhhh …
@gladiolys – yes I thought about Diamonds are Forever but the original lyrics are such crap, there isn’t much to hang your hat on. …Best Friend has much more potential, but one gets rapidly side-tracked by the Durex song, one of the best short parodies ever

All good fun, demonizing the job and wealth-creators, while the job destroyers and expense thieves (Balls, Miliband, Cooper, Brown) get a free ride.
LIBOR (London inter-bank overnight rate) or should that be Liebour manipulation was beneficial to all banks and solved some major liquidity problems. Was it right -No, but at least the upper management of Barclays have accepted guilt and stepped aside, when can a similar action be expected of the Liebour politicians and Bank Of England time-servers?
Feel free to keep playing the class warrior, as an industry that produces 12% of UK GDP is dragged down by wealth-destroyers.

FFS cascadian, it’s satire !
class warrior ?! check the link, I am a dyed-in-the-wool full-time capitalist (and wealth-creator and employer), to whom the behaviour of the banksters is anathema, they are employees claiming the rewards of capital while having bugger-all of their own capital at stake: to gaol with the lot of them
oh yeah, and in my lighter moments I write doggerel … (most of which has been directed at Brown as it happens, although I am an equal-opportunities slagger-off when targets swim across my sights)
what me, taking things too personally ?

“Balls, Miliband, Cooper, Brown……”
……Cameron, Osbourne, Clegg et al.
-

Read what I said-”All in good fun”, and you may detect that I was asking for an equality of abuse to both sides. If you have some Balls related doggerel lets hear it.
If I classified you incorrectly as a class-warrior I withdraw it, I certainly agree with your second paragraph.

cascadian, I am waiting for the landlady to tell us to take this outside to the carpark !
she keeps a little collection of mine and other stuff under the Political Poetry tab above
alternatively, some of mine is collected here, others at Guido’s dive: you will find the targets are mostly Brown & Blair. (Some scratchings of another sort here)
Balls will assuredly have his day

I had always thought that Ms. Raccoon was an equal opportunities sort of landlady. Anybody who makes a public spectacle of himself/herself can get hit by the low flying lampoons.
And quite right too.
Keep going, Nick, and keep encouraging him, Anna.
