Hurrah ! It Is EU Data Protection Day Friday
I could not believe this when I read it ! and there is a nice little EU Tube to go with it.
The European Commission and your government are promoting a Data Protection Day !!
The average British citizen is data mined by the Government hourly in a surveillance society, not to mention the supermarkets and Transport for London.
The undercover police are sleeping with anybody they can get their leg over to obtain your Data, and they are promoting a glossy little film costing more than a few bob of your money telling you to be careful with your personal data.
Guess where I will be on Friday, EU Data Protection Day, in Court in Bristol seeking an order to make the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation & Skills comply with a Subject Access Request made in October 2009.
First they ignored it; the Information Commissioner instructed them to comply, they ignored him; then on receipt of a legal notice they said no data existed ( I had by this time found written evidence that it did).
Then with two days to go the Treasury Solicitor has written to me saying, ‘it has become apparent that the Department has not yet fully complied with Mr Withers’ subject access request and this will require further investigation’
So good old Business, Innovation & Skills run by Mandelson and now by Vince Cable have broken the Law. The statutory limit to respond is forty days not sixteen months.
The merging of this Court date, the admission by the Treasury Solicitor and EU Data Protection Day is just absolute karma.

Couldn’t agree more …
Since I began reading certain (and commenting in) certain ‘Blogs’ that someone may believe to be somewhat “subversive”, I started to experience strange interruptions of \ delays with Internet access – this from my home PC and from work and from my ‘smartphone’ …
A colleague laughed when I told him this – so, I forwarded a “subversive” Internet page to his personal eMail account – inside a few hours, he started experiencing exactly the same issues as me …

You want to avoid surveillance. One word – well one and a bit: anonymouse.org
But European data protection day? They have a more urgent need for a single currency protection day if the economic data I’m reading is anything like right.

@ Chief_Sceptic – care to enlighten us with some of those URL’s? Maybe it isn’t just Tiscali/TalkTalk that’s responsible for my often slow page loading and erratic download speeds….
