The less than transparent Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) has published its SOCA Annual Report 2008/09 (.pdf) (72 pages)
Telephone intercept intelligence and communications data played a role in all significant SOCA operations, and in many where SOCA provided support to other agencies’ criminal justice casework. This was notably the case with police forces throughout England and Wales, for whom SOCA continued to provide telephone interception services.
In 2008/09 SOCA produced 182 assessments and reports for law enforcement, government and others. Those issued were designed to inform policy makers and provide support for operational activity where timeliness and relevance were critical.
The assessments are generally listed by Category – i.e. Class ‘A’ drugs, and then Title.
In 19 cases the title is listed as ‘confidential’ – we only know that it concerned, for instance, immigration.
One assessment of particular interest, however, contains no category, so we have no idea whether it concerns drugs, human trafficking, or child exploitation. but it does list its Title.

Unfortunately, SOCA is exempt from the list of Public Authorities which have to comply with Freedom of Information Act Requests.

Indeed Dick Puddlecoat …………….. And I cannot remember when a copper had so many millions of people right behind him and supporting his every endeavour to protect the reputation of himself and his country ………… Apart from Inspector Morse and Dixon of Dock Green ………… but my Mum said they are not real people so they don’t count.
Go go go Mr. Amaral …………… I wonder how the Establishment are dealing with this? ………….. After all ……….. they interfered in a very naughty way …………… Even after they were warned by the Embassy workers.

Poor Clan ………… They must be horrified that people are talking about Amaral’s documentary everywhere …………. but that theirs has not made any headlines. What a bloody pity.
Merry Gerry …………. Please will you ask the Portuguese to re-open the case so that we can truly believe that you want to help us all find out what happened that night. It may lead to finding your daughter.
And Merry Gerry ……….. Don’t be so upset about Mr. Amaral ………… He was only ever trying to find the daughter that you desperately tell us is still alive. Please help the Portuguese …………. then Mr. Amaral won’t persist in showing everybody his personal opinions and judgements. I would be livid and embarrassed if I was you. …………. And I would definitely want to clear my name.
Nice choice of lawyer though Merry Gerry. Nice choice. She wants to stop all this Press nonsense as well as you and Mosley. She is a big-shot.
But does she know what Amaral knows?
