Saturday Evening Posts Worth Reading and the 25-Hour News
Not so much a blog post but an on-line book – worth reading if you are interested in Conspiracy Theories. (Now you know why Ms Raccoon was late with this post today – too engrossed!)
Moor Larkin on Spectral Evidence.
Edith Hall on Plebeians and Classical Scholars – like Andrew Mitchell?
Who knew? Boyd Tonkin on how showing Ed Miliband eating a bacon sandwich is anti-semitism…
‘Beneath contempt‘ – Edward Garnier v. Simon Danczuk.

Regarding the Danczuk allegations against Garnier, the original claim was that it was a current minister:
“Writing in the Mail on Sunday, he said he was approached by a current government minister and urged not to name Lord Brittan.
‘As I was I was making my way from the House of Commons on Monday night after a late vote a Tory minister stepped out of the shadows to confront me. I’d never spoken to him before in my life but he blocked my way and ushered me to one side…’”This was untrue. I sought some answers here: http://davidhencke.wordpress.com/2014/09/24/survivors-speak-fiona-woolf-must-declare-how-well-she-knows-leon-brittan/#comment-14687
Now, Zac Goldsmith MP has had committed to the hallowed pages of Hansard a NEW version of the “ex-minister in a sauna” story based on the say-so of a man whose story has changed so many times as to be, beyond shadow of a doubt, unreliable in the extreme:
– In 2013 he claimed to have handled the photo in 1990. The tale now is that it disappeared in 1982.
– In 1990 he claimed that she – Kasir – was an innocent pawn (not having the foresight to know that 23-years later he was going to claim to that she had personally shown him the photos that obviously couldn’t have come from an innocent woman) but by 2013 she had been an “evil bitch” who knew everything.
– Did he, or didn’t he, see it? And what, if anything, was “it” but a claim from an alcoholic with psychiatric problems who eight years earlier had been convicted of running a brothel, where – if we are to believe the claims – children were routinely abused & possibly murdered, under the noses of her very own children? And yet, somehow, this has been aired in Parliament:
http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm201415/cmhansrd/cm141127/debtext/141127-0003.htm#14112768000487As someone who has broadly supported Exaro, despite many, many misgivings (their use of dubious sources, bombastic sensationalist headlines, worries over the hysteria being whipped-up, etc.) I’m starting to wonder if I was correct to do so. Having gently sung their praises & strongly criticised some attacks on their integrity I’m now no longer sure what to believe. They’ve been strongly critical themselves of “smears” & “disinformation”, but wasn’t it a smear to falsely impugn the honour of current ministers (Danczuk) & isn’t it disinformation what has now been foolishly spread (Goldsmith)?
I was hoping for a bit of reassurance here:
http://davidhencke.wordpress.com/2014/11/27/child-sexual-abuse-thank-you-survivors-and-zac-goldsmith/Whatever next? Tom Watson MP to claim that Jimmy Savile – wearing his wizard’s cape – shared a freshly microwaved baby with Ted Heath aboard his yacht (anchored just off Jersey) in a Satan-raising ceremony, but not before extracting the eye-balls to fashion a matching pair of rings, Savile being the conduit between the “Elite Twelve” of cane-twirling paedo toffs & the “Dirty Dozen” gang of loathsome £5-a-pop child murderers?
(The Spanish for “disappointment” is “decepción”, funnily enough, one of those ‘false friends’/’amigos falsos’ one has to be aware of when learning a new language. And I’m feeling a wee bit “decepcionado” at the moment, wondering if the next stop will be “engañado”.)

I venture that Michael Shrimpton is simply mentally ill.

By the same token, I venture that Ed Miliband is actually rather weird and the fact that he is ‘of Jewish heritage’ (to use the current cant phrase) neither increases or decreases his weirdness.
His weirdness is defined by his gangly, ungainly appearance – he appears to have the usual number of eyeballs, ears, noses, and so on, but somehow they do not seem to fit together in a harmonious whole – a bit like a ‘Mr. Potato Head’ toy – and his voice, which he attempted to improve by having his adenoids removed on the NHS, still sounds as though it is coming from the other end of an elephant’s trunk.
What really makes him weird, however, is that he actually seems to believe the moronic semi-Marxist claptrap that he spouts, like some refugee from the ’70s. If only he’d go the whole hog, embrace his inner Peter Wyngarde and start espousing free love, smoking dope, and going on strike at the drop of a hat, we’d all take him more seriously.

I read it, and I thought it referred to a Wiki page for Shrimpton, (which was what interested me) but I cannot trace that there is one. If he was charged under the 1977 Act (allegation of a bomb which he knows or believes to be false) given what I can see about him on the net, it would seem that a conviction is somewhat harsh. Perhaps more to the case than has been reported.

I think wiki has become a source scoured by the legal authorities as and when a prosecution is pending. There was certainly a page for Michael Shrimpton; I can recall marvelling at it quite some while ago. The page for Ray Teret has also been completley discombobulated prior to his prosecution as being a substitute for the real Jimmy Savile.
Shrimpy has a good page here, which I think derives mostly from acien wiki.
