Man Bites Dog.
It is possibly unfair to infer that Kathy Hook is a dog – bitch might have been better. ‘Man bites Bitch’ – doesn’t have quite the same ring to it.
She was voted ‘Unsung Hero’ by BBC Sports – not on Youtube, but here is a link to the BBC report. She is a 6th Dan – in fact the highest rated woman in Taekwondo. She runs a Taekwondo Club in Newcastle.
She used to run the club with Paul Ford, but they had a falling out. Ms Hook has had quite a few fallings out with people. She has not long finished a suspension imposed by the Sports Resolution Council.
She is a highly competitive lady, and doesn’t like to lose – anything.
When she fell out with Paul Ford, she threw his young children out of the Martial Arts Club they had been running together. Paul would tell you that this was the first act of retaliation.
She didn’t stop there though – she resorted to the weapon du jour of the modern woman – and claimed that Paul was pedophile. She printed up A4 leaflets on her trusty computer and pushed them through the front door of the neighbours houses. As you do.
“Do you know you have a paedophile on your street?”
“Arrested last year – found with videos of children in his house.”
The Police merely gave her a ‘caution’ for this act. It’s not that serious in their eyes, making a false allegation.
The local pedo-hunters took it seriously though; ‘a woman has made an accusation and the man isn’t in prison’ – Cover-up! Victim Blaming! and all the other ritual chants the mob trot out on these occasions.
Vigilantes complied with this call to arms, and dutifully beat Paul up.
Fortunately, they didn’t set fire to him on the village green in front of the local children, as has happened to others falsely accused of pedophilia, and he managed to limp away.
Just as far as his solicitor. He’s not a wealthy man, not in the Freddie Starr league – but he took her to court for Libel.
Yesterday, Sheffield County Court awarded him £10,000 in libel damages, £1,850 for his legal advice costs, and £650 for his own time on the case.
It’s nowhere near sufficient compensation for the nightmare he has lived through – and it is, apparently, more than Ms Hook possesses, so he probably won’t see a penny.
Had Kathy Hook taken her complaint to the police instead of sending out those leaflets, we would never have known who she was – she would have been granted anonymity – for life.
Should there be a second incident of her making accusations of sexual assault against children – the unfortunate recipient of future allegations would not have been able to google this account and know that she had done it before.
We are frequently told that it is necessary to name ‘alleged pedophiles’ in order that ‘other victims’ may come forward and know that they are not alone – the same applies to those who make allegations.
They too need to be named, so that others pilloried by their allegations can be similarly reassured and emboldened to take action. It has only just occurred to me that it could be the same determined groupie who has made allegations to Operation Yewtree against every famous person he/she ever met – and we would never know.
It cuts both ways.

Didn’t he have a high rank in Taekwondo too? If so, I don’t see him being ‘beaten up’ by anything short of a very large gang! I’ve done Taekwondo* and part of the Katas deal with multiple opponents, nor is it a fluffy bunnies sort of martial art. I think someone should look into who made this woman a sixth dan at anything, it’s not just the physical issues, you are supposed to show mental control too. Bitch should be outed, leaflets about HER posted everywhere and banned from running anything; martial arts schools are licensed are they not?
* And Kendo and Iaido together, never got very high but it gave me the right attitude!

Biker Bob, Mr Ford was no doubt aware, as all martial artists in the UK are, that our courts consider prowess in any martial art as a lethal weapon and ,unless he was attacked by a certified cadre of ISIS armed with shoulder born Ground to Air rocket launchers, if he had hurt any of his attackers then he’d be the one doing time/paying through the nose. You can thank those british Red Tops who back in the late 70’s and early 80’s ran a campaign against all martial arts (“Karate Killer” is one title that springs to mind) and TEACHING KIDS HOW TO KILL WITH O N E BlOW!!! *insert Daily Mail Font*

Claws away Dear, I used to be very active in Martial arts and knew rather a lot of Higher Dans, Masters and the like. Without exception they all held secondary qualifications in Right Arm-Fu and believed that lifting pints of Snake Bite & Black (this was the 80s!) was as much a valid muscle toning exercise as squats or star jumps. Most of them had guts that hung over their black belts. Sure those that fought for sport were 6 packed but it was on the understanding that as soon as they hung up their gloves they would develop the classic pot belly of the GrandMasters of KungFu of yore.
Oh and as far as I can remember they all smoked…a lot.

What a nasty ugly self centred person this woman appears to be —someone who has no time for others and seemingly no ability to introspect. There are of course always two sides to any story to any dispute so I can make no judgement on Paul Ford’s behaviour in the matter other than that he is clearly no paedophile.

I’m puzzled as to how she got an ‘Unsung Hero’ award from BBC Sports whilst apparently, if the dates are right, in the middle of a disciplinary process conducted by her own sports body.
If that’s what did happen, it does make you wonder what sort of vetting process the Beeb use for things like this. On further reflection, when you see who has been nominated for some of its other sports awards, and the media reports on their personal lives, even if those are exaggerated, maybe they don’t see the need for such, insofar as non sport related matters are considered to be outwith the narrow confines of their sporting activitiy and prowess. That might not be unduly unreasonable
But if in doing so they fail to also properly consider nominees’ own ‘professional bodies’ positions, they’ve missed a trick

I think it is unfortunate (but I fear necessary, if only to prevent the same “wrong hands” that abuse everything else using it as a weapon against honest accusation) that most of the redress for false accusation falls under civil law.
If there is one thing a policeman dreads more than a domestic dispute it is an area of, largely, civil law.

May i first thank you for writing this story Anna, it is often the case that those who are falsely accused of this crime have little redress when bringing to justice those who have told such awful lies.
More often than not the police refuse to acknowledge or prosecute unless the person admits they lied leaving the accused person with little options for justice going forward. The false accuser in my young lads case although was proven to be a liar in court has persisted in naming and claiming the allegations openly on facebook. While i continued to contact the police about this matter stating i was terrified of vigilantly behavior the police refused to caution her or remind her that she was indeed revoking her lifetime anonymity. She was mealy asked to sign a piece of paper promising to never do it again.
What could have happened to my son as a direct result of her lies i have no words for, but while women are being protected and rewarded for telling vicious lies sadly the above story will be one of plenty.

I realise that I haven’t said this out loud yet, so let me just repeat it after you:
“while women are being protected and rewarded for telling vicious lies sadly the above story will be one of plenty.”My personal experience of this has been confined to women reinventing times and places significant to my own life for gain (a kind of impersonal identity theft) and that is traumatic enough. Let me spell that out for you. I was at Duncroft for a few months either just before, or at the beginning of the time Karin Ward was. I was also really a sex worker, right across the road from a woman who is making a career out of falsely claiming she was;
http://mymythbuster.wordpress.com/myth-my-years-in-gibraltar/Both these issues broke within 6 months of each other, imagine where my life would be now if I had managed to jump on both bandwagons at the same time! As it is, it feels like “Gaslight” in stereo.
Ironically, I have been determined to raise a lot of truthful issues with both times in my life for years, and I was determined to raise them free of charge too. Now those real issues, that, if raised honestly, might have help improve the world are buried under a deluge of deceit that help no-one but those responsible, and in some aspects, contributes to serious harm.
For striving to resist this and assert the truth I have incurred some often subtle, but downright dangerous abuse and retaliation, which I have never been in great shape to overcome.
At this point anyone reading this must surely be drifting towards the conclusion that I must be a royal schmuck for holding out against the lies…
So I rest your case.

While the lure of compensation is being waved underneath the noses of those who are dishonest false allegations can only increase.
This i believe is the new whip lash claim, where anybody can claim they have hurt their neck or back, no doctor can prove one way or another hence the claimant is ensured a big windfall just for claiming NO EVIDENCE REQUIRED.There is a question of evidence that is presented in cases of sexual abuse, it would appear we are in an era where words are taken as fact and go on to be unchallenged throughout the legal process. Many accused are able and competently demonstrate as did my teenage son that the allegations cannot be true and produce cold hard evidence to support this, sadly this often falls on deaf ears when dealing with people who are hell bent on gaining a conviction at any cost.
How can it be that we live in a society whereby one persons word is enough to arrest, charge and convict while eluding justice from the often innocent person? Why are we being told that the person making the allegations must not be challenged on their account?

August 19, 2014 at 5:12 pm -
You have just reminded me, in addition to all the other 22 carat reasons why you should “pity poor me” I got hammered for £40,000 injury compensation in the first week of my first car insurance. His car came out of the sun at a country cross roads and hit my, near stationary vehicle. I was daft enough, because I had no no claims bonus, and he was a neighbour, to offer to take the blame for a tiny amount of damage to his wing…
…when my (stationary, engine off, handbrake on, this time on a six lane city road) vehicle was hit by a van 5 years later the claim was processed without challenge because of it. Thankfully when I objected to this, my insurers realised they had been as completely daft as I was in the first instance and paid out (they left themselves no way out and it was a smallish claim) without penalty to me, but even so…
Go help me if I had ever crashed at a high speed like 10mph!!!
Is that what has happened with sexual abuse? One case gets through with a low burden of proof and it goes on escalating? I was digging around after replying to you for what I know to be a very early (and quietly well known) false allegation that lead to conviction, tryimg to understand how that might have happened when I spotted a direct link between that case in the past tense and the organisations making general sexual abuse allegations in the context of sex work.
Forgive me but WHATEVER you think about sex work, whatever my circumstances, if I advertise and agree to sell a man sex for a fee, and THEN turn round an call it rape, years later, do I not belong in the same drawer as women who fake pregnancy to force a marriage? …or maybe it should be a few drawers lower?
Yet I came out of my habitual isolation into a world where publicly funded organisations are trying to force sex workers to do and accept, exactly that. The connection between reality and allegation could not get more tenuous if it tried! Whatever you think of sex work, what affect must that inevitably have on the burden of proof in any sexual allegation. Apparently sex work is rape does not personally desire the act (or as one of our dafter politicians put it has sex with “men that they do not love, men with whom they feel no connection” (that’s right ladies, find a good lawyer and DIG OUT those old diaries and address books because your ship just came in with that one…the fact that no money changed hands cannot possibly be used against you. That would just be weird).
Anyway, my heart goes out to your son. In that old case I went digging for and really cannot mention, I know that he was also lucky enough to have a supportive family and friends.
Your son did GOOD in clearing his own name…he should be proud of himself, and use the confidence in his own ability that he has learned to enhance his life, not just defend himself. He is far better off than that other, not so young now, man, who can only dread it being dredged up again and again.

Thank you for your kind words its most appreciated
We endured 2 years of absolute torture before finally and only at trial did the prosecutor concede the liar was a serial false accuser. I hope you dont mind me referring to her as ‘ the liar’ as i am unable to name and shame this person as she is protected by a lifetime anonymity order. The liar had made 2 previous false allegations prior to falsely accusing my son, both allegations were made openly on a social networking site. The liar then went on to make wild accusations to various peers while my son was on bail before finally only weeks before my son’s trial was due to commence she played the rape card yet again. She then denied she made the allegation but sadly for her she had yet again made it on a social networking site. As if that wasnt enough, and i kid you not, the liar also made a further false allegation against one of her ex friends father.
So, you see there is an obvious pattern emerging, i am not a police officer, i am not a lawyer but even i could see from the outset that this person was a persistent accuser and was dam right bloody dangerous.
The police were told and were shown evidence of the previous false allegations made by the liar within days of my son being arrested, their attitude to this information was simple – they didnt want to know nor did they ever take it into consideration when apparently investigating the allegations she had made against my son. Lets take it one step further shall we, the liar claimed she was raped every single weekend for 18 months yet was medically examined and was proven to be a virgin !!
You might wonder how the hell this case ever came to trial, how my teenage son was charged with these allegations which were quite obviously false? The answer to this is simple, the lies and false allegations were allowed to continue as they were not investigated, infact a case was constructed by an officer hell bent on gaining a conviction regardless of guilt. This officer colluded and conspired to elude fairplay and an impartial investigation resulting in my son facing trial for a crime he clearly hadnt committed.
What has happened to the liar? NOTHING she is free to inflict this on some other poor bugger
Where we have allegations that are taken as fact, no evidence is required just the words of any individual we should all fear justice as this can so easily be denied in these types of cases.

“The Liar” seems an excellent name for her to me.
I have come across serial accusers before myself. The first time I did was quite high profile in it’s various times, and quite unreal…but there is an instinct in you that keeps insisting NOBODY would even try to get away with making THAT many accusations up – of course, I was not the accused. Though I knew she was a malicious liar in other ways.
To explain it, perhaps, more easily, I came to understand that there is an acknowledged syndrome whereby victims of abuse who cannot cope with the identity of their abuser (an old friend of mind was too ashamed to be the daughter of a paedophile to even think of it, though she was his victim) go through life projecting that abuse onto people they can cope with accusing, so, for them, it is not that they are telling lies, and they do not approach it as they might a calculated false accusation…
…and that, in turn, makes them more convincing…
I am not sure punishment, as such would always be appropriate (it certainly would be in some cases), but she should be flagged up on every system (SHEESH!!! You get THAT for exceeding the speed limit), and I cannot imagine any justification in you BEING GAGGED FROM WARNING ANOTHER MOTHER…that is a court ordered moral impossibility.
I stuns me how much evil occurs in this world simply because nobody investigated anything.
Whatever happened to a charge of “wasting Police time”?
…how, in the name of all, did anyone persuade themselves to believe that, once having been raped, she would show up meekly to be raped again next weekend, every weekend for 18 months?
- Jo
August 19, 2014 at 8:52 pm -
Ah yes I did forget to tell you, she wasn’t at the property every wkend and neither was my son when the allegations were meant to have taken place
So again we have further evidence to prove the person making the allegations is lying.
We’ll recap
She’s a serial accuser making multiple false allegations in 2 years
She claims she was raped every single weekend but was proven to be a virgin
She wasn’t at the property every weekend where she alleges the rapes took place
My son was not at the property either every weekend
There is a history of vengeance from the liar & her family towards my son & family
There is evidence supporting financial difficulties with the liars family home being reprossessedDo we need any further evidence to support and prove this person made a false allegation?
South Wales Police clearly do !!
They have refused to even question her although admitting they are fully aware she indeed made a false allegation.
What I mealy ask is that she be questioned and cautioned to ensure the false allegations she made stay on her record for the rest of her life. I’m not asking that she’s prosecuted as this for me would give me little pleasure. What would please me however is simply her inability to do this again sadly the police don’t share my view I have to wonder why ?- GD

That is seriously unreal…unless someone didn’t have his (cos it was NEVER a woman) head on the right way round and decided to let the evil little mare go to the wire and get unmasked in court, because the weight of evidence was so huge against her, forgetting that there would also be a real live “accused” who would have to go to the wire too?
It must have been a nightmare…
I am also still wondering how the offence of rape could ever be committed on an 18 month instalment plan!

@GD, oh lord, freeIrishwoman. I first heard this impostor on BBC 4’s “Womans Hour” and though my knowledge of Dublin sex workers would be limited to whatever I gleaned from an am dram production of Brendan Behan’s “The Hostage”, I said to myself “If they are taking this one seriously, then I am in with a good chance of passing myself off as a Russian Spetznoi.”
It was clear as crystal what her agenda was.
Isn’t it time someone did a “Kathy’s Story” expose on her? You remember Kathy O’Beirne and her fantasy childhood in the Magdalene Laundries, which was revealed as a pack of lies back in 2006 or so? But no, she’s the poster girl for the prohibitionists and advocates of the failed “Swedish Model” for regulating sex work.
No good whatsoever can come out of any policy predicated on fraud and deceit.

August 19, 2014 at 4:29 pm -
@eyeswideshut Let us put it this way, whatever your knowledge of sex workers it would not increase in any way through listening to her.
It has been really weird for me, because they actually had the cheek to try and get me to play her part instead (which part of “I do not sell my conscience” is hard to understand?) at about the same time as MWT was sending out he email hustles (*kick to shins* “I am looking for a flood of child sex abuse allegations connected to Duncroft” *meaningful wink* I don’t suppose you happen to have any?” sits in a really strange place place alongside “If you will only meet me and let me explain what our anti sex worker organisation actually does for sex workers – by the way have you ever thought of publishing a book?” *hint hint* – it was the looming possibility of being made to eat the unmentionable parts of kangaroos by Any and Dec if I were to comply with both that finally tipped the balance) . This was inexplicable until I heard, quite recently, through a couple of grapevines, that she is so obnoxious even the organisations promoting her have trouble facing dealing with her!
Strangely enough roughly the same orders that successfully challenged Kathy O’Beirne played a huge part in creating and promoting her natural successor in Moran…not slow learners, the religious. I have been told that at least one “fake survivor” of the laundries has been given a “pass” in return for being a former sex worker who supports abolitionism too but I am not sure of the truth of that, though I am pretty sure the truth of it depends on whether they could find anyone willing to “take the deal” or not.
Law and policy based on deceit is irrelevant and dangerous, not only in effect, but also in the default.
For 40 years I have tried to find a way to get the abusive nature and effect of Duncroft acknowledged and properly examined to no avail. As a result it still form the basis of a lot of the care system today, and goes on doing damage that might not have to happen at all.
Now the chance to recognise and change that has been buried under an avalanche of sensational false allegations for good. It may, realistically, be another 40 years before anyone looks at, and fixes the real problems that go on affecting the future.
If the laws Moran supports to peddle her lies pass innocent people will suffer and even die for 20 years or so before the law is re-examined (the ’93 law was recognised as a disaster that harmed and endangered sex workers within a year, yet here we are 2014).
The incestuous relationships between those who purport to fight for the survivors of the laundries and the orders that created them and seek to re assert an up graded model (that, surprise surprise, tends to have too many points of similarity to the “Duncroft model” adapted for infantilised adults) through abolitionism make my head swim and my stomach churn. No wonder there has never been any real Justice for Magdalenes, and probably never will be…
Meanwhile, would you believe I would have given 10 years off my life for a real way out of sex work…but no dice…

Someone needs to write a black comedy about this Ruhama. Apologies for the length – but here is my story…
Though she was staying in my flat in Oxford for 2009/2010/2011 period – our relationship and interaction with each other was virtually non-existent. She repeatedly failed to earn an income and spent most of her time in the flat sleeping or at least in bed. We ate separately and I was sleeping in the spare bedroom or living room, leaving work early to avoid confrontation with her and staying late for the same reason.
On the 29th June 2011 I went, with my sister to my mother’s house for an evening meal. My sister picked me up at around 6pm and drove me home at around 11pm where we talked outside for half an hour or so about the terrible life that X was inflicting on me. Within this time X had called my mother to ask where I was and my mother replied that I had left “about twenty minutes” ago.
Upon quietly entering my flat while my sister was on her way back home I was shouted at “You have given me an STD”. I replied that it would be very difficult without us having a sexual relationship. She replied “Well I’m itchy so you must have”. She then continued to shout regarding my late return home and saying I’d been cheating that night. I responded that she knew I’d been at my mother’s house and she kept being verbally aggressive. So I asked her to leave. This had happened before but I’d usually let her back in at some point when she’d calmed down.
She refused so I picked up her keys and her Smartphone and said she could have them back when she left my property. She collected clothes and some basic belongings and I allowed her to take some bits of food and sanitary items. This all took around ten minutes. She left and I gave her the phone and keys having removed the keys from the bunch to my flat first.
At around 2am that morning she called my mobile phone and asked to come back. I refused. Over the coming weeks she moved to a refuge in Bristol – I was uneasy with this as she is not the obvious client group. However I was glad to be free of her.
She made three journeys to my flat to collect belongings where at a pre-arranged time she waited in her car on the bridge and I put her things in her car. She never re-entered the property after 29th June 2011. On two occasions she requested a final kiss but I declined.
She had a few belongings in my father’s garage, and I was due to collect these for her. I also had her cat in my flat until she was more settled. She then started to play weird games by ringing me at work and being abusive and sending me threats via e-mail. All these were concurrent with postal love letters and other inconsistent attempts to contact me. I became increasingly stressed so said she had to make arrangements to collect her cat within a fortnight.
She agreed but two days later attended my flat at 8:20am with two Thames Valley Police Officers to collect her belongings (i.e. the cat). As a result of this visit I was left with numerous artificial cat scratches.
Thus I collated my evidence; met with a PC and we prepared a Level 1 Harassment Order that was issued by Warwickshire Police some time later. My mother and her husband arranged collection of her remaining items via a third unrelated party that she nominated.
Over the coming months the harassment continued, sending letters; arriving at my work with a gift; attacking my friends via email and social media and so on.
As the contact attempts became more irrational including hysterical messages on my sister’s mobile phone and family Facebook accounts I was forced to re-contact Thames Valley Police and a second harassment warning was given. Around this time she created an allegation of serious sexual assault that she claimed had occurred on the night that I had kicked her out of my home, 29th June 2011.
I reported this to Thames Valley Police. She then started accusing other males of similar attacks and was using my full name. On several occasions she asked her Twitter followers if they knew any tough guys to “beat up my evil ex, [my name]”.
Her Twitter however was full of contradictions flipping between the rape allegation; the claim that I’d hit her during the entire relationship and other Tweets saying she missed me and loved me.
When she Tweeted that she had reported the rape and continually talked about the fact she was doing or had done a video interview I became more concerned and phoned Thames Valley Police to ask if she had reported this. Eventually around 8 weeks after I’d first told Thames Valley Police that she was claiming she had reported this alleged rape, and was harassing me by calling me a rapist online, I received a telephone call from a PC at Warwickshire to tell me that the warning over the harassment notice against her had been issued and that Thames Valley Police were going to arrest me for alleged rape. I immediately phoned Thames Valley who claimed no crime had been reported. Two days later I received a telephone call from a Detective at Thames Valley to attend a voluntary interview to address the rape allegation.
I attended in December 2012 and the case was not filed. Partly because unbeknownst to me, she had called the Police on the night I had kicked her out to say she had been kicked out of home. Two officers attended and carried out a BASE questionnaire where she answered that there had never been any abuse from me toward her in our relationship.
However the rape allegations online continued. After she had reported the alleged rape she sent me explicit pornography of herself including moving images and still often Tweeted how she loved me and so on alongside the serious allegations.
On several occasions she has used my full name and location on social media to alert people that I am an abusive sex offender based in _______. She also contacted my employers to tell them that I was an “abusive, evil rapist” and has had several direct online conversations with people where she has named me and encouraged people to seek me out.
Most recently she has Tweeted on the 8th April 2013 “I always worked but stopped when X raped me and made me homeless”. Regardless of my own standing on Twitter there are many people who now associate my name and my face with serious sex crimes.
On 11th May 2013 she Tweeted “FYI @________ is abusive, manipulative, evil, a paedophile and a rapist.”
Both Police forces failed to arrest or charge X as despite Thames Valley telling me this would happen neither force would take responsibility.

@Barn I don’t really know what to say except, the obvious “consult a lawyer” (after all, they grow on trees to be picked for free – but having to bite that bullet is part of the harm a stalker can inflict) and assure you that I have seen people like this perform online and never once been tempted to believe them.

This is actually harrassment (a criminal offence) but if the police won’t treat it as such, then talk to a lawyer. It’s also defamation. You can obtain a restraining order or sue.

When I read the reports about that, I wondered if the “paedophile” tag was an escalation of existing victimisation over his race and disability, in retaliation for him taking photographic evidence of victimisers, with the criminals falsely labelled as “vigilantes” and thereby given the benefit of the doubt as having “mistaken” him for a paedophile, when it was an excuse to take the victimisation to the next level. Also in view of this BBC report about racism on a Bristol housing estate: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjoKggCUDog

I could cry reading things like this…what he must have gone through…
I saying anything on my own behalf, but if anything does happen (as it could at any time) it will be too late to point this out before the snowball can roll over someone else scroll down to “Karen Pastore” and open comments:
https://www.facebook.com/turnofftheredlight?sk=reviewsThat incitement to harm me is being hosted on facebook by “Turn Off the Red Light” the abolitionist umbrella org I oppose. It would not matter so much if my location had not already been published (with the knowledge of “Turn Off the Red Light”) as a sly retaliation for swearing out a deposition against Rachel Moran.
I am high function autistic, and badly damaged by childhood and other abuse, and have always been a recluse. To try and move from my only home of many years would be as harmful as anything else that might happen because of this, and is something I would have no reason to survive. So I sit and hope for the best. I do not sleep very well any more. There is absolutely nothing else I can do, except mention this in the hope that “in the event of something happening to me” someone will notice how and why it was incited, and who was involved, and try to prevent the same kind of weapon being used against anyone else.
Thank you for your attention.

This “Karen Pastore” reads like a drive-by hysteric. We have plenty of them in the North, though thank God, they are declining in numbers and influence. I have a vague feeling if KP had been going around when things were at their worst, up here, and had an interest in “politics” s/he wouldn’t have lasted too long him/herself. Threats were taken very seriously in those days, not least because they often had a habit of rebounding on the threatener.
What an illiterate jumble of spite and rage.

I know, and the sincerely heartwarming part is that, so far, everyone who has seen that has been too decent at heart to get caught up in it…or attack me in any way. When you think about it that is quite something.
…but I know in my heart that there will always be one…
…and it is not all down to KP…when she posted that she has every reason to believe that Turn Off the Red Light would have it taken down within days…but they leave it there instead in a silent endorsement of it. All their active supporters (the kind that read their facebook page rather than turn up for their free career-enhancing junkets) are, loosely, barking mad and that is not a relaxing thought at 4am.
If anything does ever happen, I want to be able to keep smiling knowing these b*st*rds WILL be made to pay and shown up for what they really are.

August 19, 2014 at 7:47 pm -
Oh don’t think I didn’t notice the “likes” KP had garnered from TOTRL. The organisation itself, not just some rag-tag-and-bobtail self-identifiers.
That tells me everything I need to know about them.
If it’s any consolation, and I do have some insight into ye Olde Irishe murder-game, it is highly unlikely that KP or any fanboys/girls of KP’s will do anything at all. Not that this makes the situation any less disturbing for you.

August 19, 2014 at 8:42 pm -
Oh I know enough to know nothing official, or even unofficial will happen…I know where too many bodies are buried and I am MUCH too much of a gossip within the confidentiality of my friends
But KP’s “eloquence” specifically targets the lesser spotted, low flying nutter…and nobody can predict them, which means they are not very accurate weapons, which does nothing to discourage those who wish to be able to show “clean hands” after the fact from trying to find a way to use them.
Nobody ever really stood up to TORL and called them on their lies (very different to ideologically opposing them) before me, I suppose it must p*ss them off a lot?

August 19, 2014 at 9:03 pm -
It’s possible, but unlikely.
Reading “KP”, I saw a distorted echo of the feminist culture wars, imported from the USA, and fought out in a carnival spirit in the pages of The Guardian.
Finally washing up on Ireland’s garbage-strewn shoreline, to be picked over by the Molly Malones of what passes for our rad-fem intelligentsia.
Calm yourself.
The KPs are very small in number, very limited in their thinking, and sadly provincial in their aping of cosmopolitan fashions. However, you are definitely on to something when you say the historic forces of social control in Ireland, which are supposedly on the back-foot after the revelations of the last 20 years, have simply regrouped, co-opted the usual confederacy of dunces and mutated into a new version of the same old-same old. Adapt and survive, indeed.
KP will never realise this of course.

Before I say another word let me not forget that every cloud has a silver lining, every time I have to dig up that link, the silver lining is called Leigh Walsh…
Talk about “Killing me softly” – she is a remarkable, brave and insightful young woman and I thank my stars for the days she decided to transgender and come over to *MY* team.
I confess, I never googled KP…the shock of realising she was either a sockpuppet with a whole family of sock puppets (DUH???), or a real person, quite overcame me and I forgot! I should have googled, because if I had I would have found that she had been joining Rachel Moran in making attacks an anti sex work “survivor lead” organisation who (apart from being *SO* not my cup of tea) managed to see Moran for the fraud she is…I suppose such lyrical and unique use of language as “slave-traded” (adj) should have alerted me to this possibility immediately? I swear, I live my life half asleep.
It also occurred to me while I was out walking my dog, that, in actual fact, the low flying, lesser spotted nutter could strike any of us at any time, without any help from “Turn Off the Red Light”…

“sockpuppet with a whole family of sock puppets”
The FB account does look strange. Over 2,000 “friends”, including numerous cats and a few dogs, attended some kind of Lord-of-the-Rings elfin university, photos all general images of vegetation/new-agey elfy stuff, apparently no photos of people other than one supposedly of herself. Supposed mother’s account similar. Whoever created the account(s) seems to have an interest in new agey things and animal rescue centres. It seems odd that someone in Pittsburgh should feel so strongly about things going on in Ireland.

@Gil I have just been chatting with another victim…whoever KP is she is VERY tied up with Rachel Moran who’s main aim in life seems to be scamming as much money as she can out of the wealthy US orgs.
I am also given to understand that there is nothing unusual about people emailing profuse apologies for attacking people *because Rachel Moran talked them into it* (NB if you want me to attack someone you had better look a lot like George Clooney and be ready to do WAY MORE than just talk…just so you know).
Meanwhile, I sit here with my mouth open wondering how much of this kindergarten level nonsense goes on in the background of other legislation that has nothing to do with sex work…

When my brother and his ex were splitting up, her vindictive nature manifested itself as threatening to report him as a ‘paedo’ in relation to their (then) toddler daughter. Sticks and stones where most names are concerned, but not this. Most of us now know such an accusation, even made in the heat of the moment during an argument, has the power to paralyse the recipient unlike any other insult. Images of vigilante mobs, dawn raids, police carrying computers in cellophane out of houses, media intrusion etc will flash before their eyes. It has become a potent weapon indeed for those with an otherwise empty armoury.

For connoisseurs of cognitive dissonance.
We have no idea why this couple chose to end their lives. Some artless blather about how they could never be together, culturally-like. There is some indication in the article that the young woman had a history of suicide attempts.
Nevertheless, at 15 she was below the age of consent. Again, there is no reason to believe the couple had a physical relationship, beyond the extreme physicality of jumping in front of a train, hand-in-hand. Which is just a bit too physical for me, frankly.
DM Readers hope they are happy in heaven, continuing their great romance. Just read the comments.
We will die of our own idiocy. Whatever this pair died of.

There is a curious echo of “Mayerling” in this story for anyone who ever dug right down into the historical facts…right down to the personalities of the people involved.
Not so long ago the Japanese would have regarded their choice as touching and beautiful, who is to say they would have been wrong? I can only hope that in the last conscious moment before extinction they both believed everything they wanted was happening with every fibre of their beings…they deserved that much, and if they got it, I cannot help wondering if that was more than most of us ever find.
I wrote this when I was a little younger than Charleigh:
Whilst I lived I loved
When I died I loved
For love was life,
And love was death,
And love was mine,
But once.- EyesWideShut

Oh I don’t know. I lack the romantic instinct. It always seemed to me to be based on solipsism. Even as a youngster, I was immune to the glamour of death. I think it was because I was born into the Troubles in NI and by the age of six I had seen through the Martyrology, which informed both camps. I choose life not death. Because in the long run we’re all dead. The true revolt is against death.
What strikes me is the utter mental confusion of these times. We are told that” a child” under 18 cannot be the subject of sexual feelings or understand them but when we are presented with a trite Romeo and Juliet tale, the readers of the DM decide that this pair were star-crossed lovers and worthy of all our sentimental concern and respect. Meanwhile somewhere else a young man of 18 who had had a sexual relationship with a young woman of 15, but not entered into a suicide pact with her, could find himself on a sex offenders’ register and pursued by a lynch mob.
We need to learn to think.

I have come to realise this world is a pretty poisonous place that is set to get a lot worse before the pendulum swings back (long after I am gone). I pity anyone who is young now for the world they will have to live in, and I am absolutely certain I would personally have been better off going under a train at the age of 15 convinced I was about to spend eternity with my soul mate (a thought which crossed my mind at the time but was a little impractical due to the absence of one essential ingredient).
My heart is with the Karaoglan family, I am pretty sure that if their son loved a girl intensely, in a way that stood the test of time, they would have stood back. Yet they will live out their lives under a cloud of presumption that they would not have, perhaps even in their own minds. (Sadly, there is a lot more grief to cultural differences than parents laying down the law for the sake of it, so there is no great kindness in setting them aside lightly).
It isn’t necessarily romantic. Sometimes, for whatever reason, real or pathological, feelings occur that are too intense to live with, and too strong to kill. When that happens something has to give. I have a feeling that without “cultural differences” they would have found another excuse.
It is what it is.

There are certain medicines that can, especially when combined with alcohol, cause intense suicidal notions. We only found out that then 18year old Crippled Son had left his wheelchair on the Prom and commando crawled/pulled himself over a sharp flint beach and into the sea because the copper who pulled him out was a friend and felt we, the parents, needed to know. Can’t remember which medicines son had been prescribed but I do recall they were ‘harmless’ and often prescribed to teens.
If the girl had other medical problems then maybe ‘cultural differences’ weren’t the root. Just pointing out…

Prozac will do that…any SSRI inhibitor has a similar potential, but it sounds as if there was a huge element of determination too. An absence of love can kill, but it does not hold that the presence of love is enough to make life worth living.
Suicide is what we do when be a certain enough that all our options are more painful and frightening than dying and it is a decision each must make for himself, I suspect it is a decision that makes itself.
As above, I feel “cultural differences” were more an excuse than the root.

“huge element of determination”
Well yeah, “determination” barely covers it. Crippled Son would crawl over broken glass and rusty razor blades dipped in Curare to get whatever DVD box set he wants this week. He is that stubborn. But in this instance, he himself afterwards-after coming off those particular meds- spoke of a ‘complusion’ (‘Zwang’-we speak Denglisch at home). Chantix like maybe?

Y’know, crippled son sound ALL right (with a capital “all”). I hope he is not aiming to become one of those crippled guys I have to chastise for stringing along 7 gorgeous, independent women at the same time???
I know what they did was pathologically driven, I also know it was cruelly damaging to everyone in range, but, on another level, it was also quite magnificent.

” I hope he is not aiming to become one of those crippled guys I have to chastise for stringing along 7 gorgeous, independent women at the same time???”
Sounds about right for him…he being one of the very few, the ‘elite,’ among the diaplegic spastics, that can undo his girlfriend’s bra-through her tshirt- one handed. Some years back we had to have the sides from his wheelchair removed so his girlfriend of the time could straddle it.

Another great article by Anna and spot on.
I find this website almost unique on the net : because the discussions that follow each Raccoon article can in themselves be absorbing, entertaining and illuminating.GD’s posts are fascinating and JO- I share your pain having had a family member go through the same if only for 2 days, but it’s what alerted me to how frequent are false accusations.
Without going into the whole sordid tale, in this particular case, the problem was solved by some clever cops at a West End police station in London. Perhaps they were a bit more worldly but it was before pedo hysteria became rampant and historic abuse cases were even mentioned.- GD
