@Joe Public I agree the Exinjuria piece was excellent –a long time back Anna postulated the Common Law was not the forum to address issues of historic child abuse —a view I disagreed with at the time but which I am now coming around to

Thank you Anna. It *may* just be that not all of the lunatics have taken over the asylum.

Anna On Newsnight on BBC2 last night (Friday) Ann Widdecombe spoke on the topic, that men accused of sexual crimes, recent or historical, should be allowed anonymity until charged, the woman who spoke to oppose this view, identified as a victim of rape in the 1980’s, had views on men which have to be heard to be believed. She would appear to believe that men are a less emotionally developed varient of the human species than women, it is her belief that men falsely accused of such crimes are “not bothered much by it” as “they go back to work”. Ann Widdecombe looked truely shocked but was not allowed time to reply. It is an interview worth a look while it is on BBC iplayer.

@Carl: Imagine saying something similar about black people, for example.
“Oh you know, they tend to cope quite well with the odd bit of racial harassment. They just don’t feel it, like we would.”
