Barking Mad
Multi-cultural Britain, the land where nobody needs to make any effort to integrate; where the Gas bill is translated into fifteen different languages; where the arrivals desk at Birmingham airport has directions to the toilet in every language imaginable – except English; where if you are a transgendered Somalian jailed for rape there will be a leaflet printed just for you – explaining how to get a grant to learn Chinese, has excelled itself today.
Your donations to the RSPCA are being used to teach the staff Polish so that they can communicate with a dog they thought was deaf – or maybe just disobedient – but have now discovered came from a Polish household…
I am going for a lie down.

A sorry tail like this is enough to make anyone feel hang-dog, so it isn’t surprising a dedicted newshound like you needs a cat-nap. At first I howled with laughter but now I’ve pawsed and thought about it more, the whole thing must surely be no more than a shaggy dog story.

to continue GS’s comment – personally I think the story a tad fur-fetched!

They also contributed 1 million quid to Tony Bliar’s Labour party as a sweetener for the fox-hunting ban. The NSPCC are just as bad.

Introduced to a new language, I think a Labrador would get it very quickly, whereas a Border Collie may have herd it all before…

A man runs into the vet’s office carrying his dog, screaming for help.
The vet rushes him back to an examination room and has him put his dog
on the examination table.
The vet examines the still, limp body and after a few moments, tells
the man that his dog, regrettably, is dead.
The man, clearly agitated and not willing to accept this, demands a
second opinion.
The vet goes into the back room and comes out with a cat and puts the
cat down next to the dog’s body.
The cat sniffs the body, walks from head to tail, poking and sniffing
the dog’s body and finally looks at the vet and meows.
The vet looks at the man and says,
“I’m sorry, but the cat thinks that your dog is dead, too.”
The man is still unwilling to accept that his dog is dead.
So, the vet brings in a black Labrador.
The lab sniffs the body, walks from head to tail, and finally looks at
the vet and barks.
The vet looks at the man and says,
“I’m sorry, but the lab thinks your dog is dead too.”The man, finally resigned to the diagnosis, thanks the vet and asks
how much he owes.
The vet answers, “£650.”
“$650 to tell me my dog is dead?” exclaims the man.
“Well,” the vet replies, “I would only have charged you £50 for my
initial diagnosis.
The additional £600 was for the cat scan and lab tests.” -

And, dear Blink, I’ve been totting up how many words a dog needs to know… it’s 6. Sit, stay, lie, fetch, heel, no. Plus name (which they know anyway and which serves as ‘come here’)
I googled ‘dog commands in Polish’ and all of the above sprang to the screen.
Grrrrrrrr.

English Viking Snap My views of RSPCA exactly.
I am connected to a small charity. We had some funds to disburse. In principle animal welfare and child welfare. Had a look at RSPCA saw what they were spending on anti foxhunting nonsense and blocked a £100k donation. Inspected NSPCC and looked at overheads etc and the Victoria Climbie case and blocked another £100k. The CEO’s were incandescent when informed.

Same here.
I’ve never met such a pompous authoritarian bunch of twats in uniform. Nevermind that they actually kill more animals than they save. Its a disgusting organisation.

Perhaps the ever-entertaining Pat Condell may have something to say on the subject one day. Not today though as his latest (and arguably his finest) video to camera has only just been posted. For those who don’t know of him, might I suggest typing his name into google and you can find his site on You Tube. Enjoy!

Personally, I’ve always preferred people who try to help animals to those who like to torture them for their own amusement. The RSPCA is a charity – if you contribute to it, then you have a right to complain about how it spends it’s money. If not, then it’s got sweet FA to do with you, but you could always make a donation and then bitch away to your heart’s content.

Dogs don’t care what language you use. You can threaten to debollock them in a nice soft voice and they love it.

I like your blog but…
Heading towards daily-mail-like comment style?
Please tell me – maybe my English is not good enough – where it is mentioned that MONEY was spent to teach staff Polish? Is it such an effort to learn couple of words? Instead of ticking boxes on a form?
Now I am going to be spiteful – excuse me.
Probably it is an enormous effort !
Quite recently I had a visit of Englisman in Poland for 4 days. Mastering even basic “thank you-excuse me-two beers, please” in Polish was not his concern at all. BTW, he enjoyed the stay, he had never seen so many hundreds cute slim girls during one weekend… -

Vimes (18), As well as £100M in donations. the RSPCA receives £20M per annum of taxpayers’ money, so all taxpayers have a right to complain about what the RSPCA does with their money, particularly as their ‘donation’ is not voluntary!

Hi Tony – perhaps you should tell them, as they don’t seem to know:
http://www.rspca.org.uk/getinvolved/supportus
I’m sure that amount of money would come in very handy.
