It looks to me like the government scientists and advisors have finally come up with the “Candide” pill, the one that makes “everything for the best in the best of all possible worlds”. It must be so because it seems to be working well for the people taking it.
Today people seem to think there is a pill or potion for every need and that it will provide the easy answer. The kids are doled out Ritalin and the elderly Respiridone, and a lot in between are self medicating with illegal “Class ABC” and legal substances, either to supposedly enhance their recreational experiences or find oblivion ….
Given the current parlous state of every aspect of our life today, I am sorely tempted to sell my own home and contents to get the private prescription for an endless supply of the “Candide” pill, the latest wonder drug not available to the ordinary tax paying public. I would gladly take two four times a day, if it made it all better. Unfortunately, as I know only too well the only answer for my life and problems is to try to have all my few wits about me at all times, and continue to keep taking the large pinch of salt pro re nata.

It seems to me amazing that Civil Servants can receive bonuses for ‘being out in the field’ and even for just being at the Ministry of Defence. When did the Services receive bonuses for all the SECURITY ‘in the field’ work they always carry out and all the extra hours they put themselves through to carry out that SECURITY IN THE FIELD. Always this government sits on the fence and allows all the injustices to carry on and do nothing until such time as the people make noises and even then very little or even nothing is done!!!
