Quote of the week.
We’ve not seen an ounce of humility from them […] These people feathered their own nests and filled their own pockets full of a lot of cash during the course of their time […] Given all that has happened, I think they should reflect on what they have done, reflect on what they have said and give an apology.
Lord Mandelson
I note that he stopped short of asking the ex-Directors of Rover MG to actually give the money back, no desire to set a precedent for his parliamentary colleagues, I guess.

And I thought he was talking about friends of his – after all how did he manage to pay his mortgage?
He obviously didn’t think when he said that and it will be taken by a lot of people as showing how two faced he and his party is.

Hang on. Four/five blokes managed to get half a billion, interest free off the Krauts and then set up a company to charge interest on the interest free loan to MG. Nice work!
I actually know one of these guys. They bought the company for a tenner and THEY NEVER PAID IT TO BMW.

If Towers and Co were fraudulent/incompetent who handed them the company? Why Railtrack Beyers and Hewitt. They should all be locked up.

Getting them in Court is the diffi”cult” step, thiefs and liars and lawyers.
Aitkin and Archer, spring to mind.

£16m for a four year report for an accountant and a lawyer called Gervaise and Guy, that completely exonerates the bungling Government. They made £2m a year each.
Mandelson bleats about humilty !

I thought the quote was about MPs until I saw who it was from.
That’s very autocratic of Peter. A wee bit feeble though as that is all he can do – it would appear there is nothing provably untoward about what the Phoenix Four did, which is what competent businessmen always do – spot mugs a mile of and exploit them. Said the right things, did the right things to get Government backing for their plan and now the Government spits in their faces.
