Straight out of the blocks
The first little “Brownie” from the budget has just been highlighted:
“VAT and postal A.96 – From 31 January 2011 VAT will be applied at the standard rate to certain postal services provided by the universal service provider (Royal Mail).”
Did the price of stamps and other stuff in the future just go up by 17.5% or more?
So much for his comment of “I have no further announcements on VAT”
Is there really no end to the mendacity of this government?

“Is there really no end to the mendacity of this government?”
it would appear not.

Probably not getting VAT on stamps. The comment on Dizzy’s place is correct in their quote (pg 82 of the Budgie) and I would guess Royal Mail are the only providers of stamps.

Shouldn’t the title of this thread be ‘Straight out with the bollocks’?

Rather than an election, I’d prefer un-election – there’d be a massive turnout if you could place a cross in the box to indicate which major political figure you’d most like to send packing.

Could be a television series each week, worst performing MP gets the pork chop.

Good idea, but perhaps an endless supply of pork pies might be equally appropriate.

Or, on a white-haired, badger-browed theme: ‘Straight out with the beau locks’….
